Conor McGregor and Joanna Jedrzejczyk offer Ronda Rousey encouragement for UFC returnGet the Full StoryTwo of the UFC s brightest talents are throwing their support behind one of the UFC s biggest stars as she prepares for her return to competition. Ronda Rousey s return date is set. She ll be fighting for the women s bantamweight title again, just over a year after losing the belt to Holly Holm at UFC 193. Since she s been gone, the belt has changed hands twice, first going to longtime foe Miesha Tate and now resting in the hands of Amanda Nunes.
With the amount of competition there s been at the top of the division lately, some have cried foul that Rousey still gets to keep her spot at the front of the line. None more so than presumptive top contender Julianna Pena, who went so far as to threaten to leave the promotion after being passed over for the next title shot. However, when Ronda steps into the Octagon on December 30th, she ll have two very strong voices of support backing her up: Conor McGregor and Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
McGregor gave his encouragement to Rousey in a recent fan Q&A for The Lad Bible transcript via MMA Fighting :

"I'm very excited. It's good to finally see her back, McGregor said of Rousey s return. Losses can really affect you. It's a crazy business we're in, especially at the very, very high top. I hope she took inspiration on how she came back from my defeat. And I wish her all the best. She's a solid competitor and I'm excited to see how it unfolds."..."I'd tell her to go shut them all up now, he continued. Shut them all up. Go and stake your claim again...Go and shut these people up now. Go and get what you began back."
Likewise, in a recent interview with Submission Radio, Joanna Jedrzejczyk was very adamant in her support for Rousey s return and for seeing the former champ get an instant title shot:
Of course she deserves it, Jedrzejczyk said of Rousey s title shot. Of course, of course, of course. I m training with Amanda Nunes and I respect her so much, but I have a very good relationship with Ronda Rousey, we ve had this relationship for a very long time. So it s going to be a very good fight, because Amanda, she is a tough chick. Her boxing is on point, her Jiu Jitsu game is very good, but there is lots of pressure on Ronda. She used to be like simply the best, she used to be one of the greatest, not just as a female, but among the greatest MMA fighters and she did so much for us not just for female fighters, but for all of the MMA fighters, for the UFC. So we should be thankful to her for that. I m not gonna agree with Juliana Pena who is complaining that Ronda got a chance to fight for the title. I think she deserves that and we should agree with that one hundred percent.
Ronda is a big question for us right now, but I believe in her so badly and I think it s going to be the toughest Ronda who we ve ever seen.
UFC 207 goes down on December 30th in Las Vegas Nevada. The card is expected to be headlined by Rousey vs. Nunes with a reported bout between Cain Velasquez and Fabricio Werdum also in the works.
