Kavanagh calls out UFC for not covering fight week expensesGet the Full StorySBG Dublin head coach John Kavanagh was not happy about not being covered for his fight week expenses. It is quite obvious that the UFC has been giving Conor McGregor a lot of special treatment since he rose to mainstream superstardom in 2014. However, there apparently is a contrast in treatment when it comes to his coaches.
SBG Dublin head coach John Kavanagh was due for coaching duties for the TUF 27 Finale in Las Vegas where two of his fighters Brad Katona and Richie Smullen where scheduled to compete.
According to Kavanagh, there was no car service to pick him up from the airport, which was customary for the UFC to grant to competitors and their coaches. He also claimed that he had to shoulder his flight and accommodation, expenses which were also usually shouldered by the company.
Kavanagh took out his sentiments via Twitter, a post that has since been deleted but has been captured by MMA Mania.
I guess times hard at ufc just messaged me to say they cant collect me from airport so need to make my own way to hotel. even though i ve a UltimateFighter finalist and undercard guy on friday. also paid for my own flight hotel as they only cover 1 warm up each #prayforUFC
The TUF 27 Finale is scheduled for Friday, July 6th, a night before UFC 226, which caps off International Fight Week.
