Sharon Stone Has Thoughts On How Meryl Streep Is Seen As THEE Actress Of All Actresses

Get the Full StoryWhenever we hear that Glenn Close or Sigourney Weaver or Michelle Pfeiffer was cast in something, some people think, Oh, how gracious of the benevolent Queen of Actresses, Meryl Streep, to turn that role down to give the lessers a chance. Because Meryl Streep is largely seen as The Supreme when it comes to Hollywood actresses. Well, Sharon Stone has a lot of thoughts on that and she let them out during an interview when she felt that the interviewer insinuated how lucky she was to work with THEE Meryl Streep. Listen, Sharon Stone did not work a pair of busted baby bangs while jacking herself off with some dude s hand in a speeding sports car in the underrated masterpiece Basic Instinct 2 for someone to imply that she s on a lower level than Meryl Streep!

Last month, Zoomer released their interview with Sharon Stone to promote her memoir, The Beauty of Living Twice. But the interview made the rounds this week when someone picked up Sharon s words on the idolization of Meryl Streep. Sharon and Meryl were both in Steven Soderbergh s 2019 movie The Laundromat. Sharon writes in her memoir about how Hollywood pits women against each other and there can only be room for one. Zoomer s Johanna Schneller brought this up during their video call interview. Johanna let Sharon know that she found that fascinating and went on to say, So when you finally got to work with Meryl Streep, you realized Sharon didn t let Johanna finish and immediately checked a trick. Oh, how I wish I could see the glare that Sharon threw. It was probably more heated than the one she threw at the komodo dragon who tried to eat her husband in the early aughts and not in a sexy way .

Sharon believes that the business of Hollywood built up three-time Oscar winner and twenty-one-time nominee Meryl Streep as the untouchable goddess of acting and every other actress in the game has to compete with her:

Stone stops me. I like the way you phrase that, that I finally got to work with Meryl Streep, she says. You didn t say, Meryl finally got to work with Sharon Stone. Or we finally got to work together.

Good point, I start to say Because that s the way her life went, she got built up to be, Everyone wants to work with Meryl, Stone says. I wonder if she likes that?

You re right, I start to say The way you structured the question is very much the answer to the question, Stone says. The business was set up that we should all envy and admire Meryl because only Meryl got to be the good one. And everyone should compete against Meryl. I think Meryl is an amazingly wonderful woman and actress. But in my opinion, quite frankly, there are other actresses equally as talented as Meryl Streep. The whole Meryl Streep iconography is part of what Hollywood does to women.

Sharon could ve left it at that, but she went on and named all the actresses who are just as good as Meryl Streep:

Viola Davis is every bit the actress Meryl Streep is. Emma Thompson. Judy Davis. Olivia Colman. Kate Winslet, for fuck s sake. But you say Meryl, and everybody falls on the floor.

Sharon continued to show that she had a serious case of Streep throat by saying Meryl s name over and over again. Her sore spot about Meryl Streep didn t stop throbbing, and she went on about how Meryl could ve never done what she did in Basic Instinct or in her Oscar-nominated performance in Casino:

I m a much better villain than Meryl and I m sure she d say so. Meryl was not gonna be good in Basic Instinct or in Casino. I would be better. And I know it. And she knows it. But we re all set up to think that only Meryl here Stone s voice goes all breathy, and she stretches out her arms in an arabesque, left arm forward is so amazing right arm forward that when you say her name left arm forward it must have been amazing right arm for me to work left arm with her.

Okay, I agree with Sharon about Basic Instinct and Casino, but saying that Meryl doesn t play the villain as well as Sharon?! I mean

Not to mention She-Devil! Although, an ultimate villain move is shitting on Hollywood for pitting women against each other and then pitting herself against another woman in her next breath. Well played, Sharon.

After Johanna apologized for how she phrased the question, Sharon let her know that it s not her fault and we ve all been conditioned to think that Meryl Streep is the end all, be all of acting:

That s how you re set up to ask the question. That s how we re set up to think, Stone says. Breathy voice again: Because I could never touch the heights We re all labelled the Queen of Something. I m the Queen of Smut! She s the Queen of That! We all have to sit in our assigned seats. Are you kidding me? If we worked in a supermarket, she can t always be the No. 1 checkout girl. We re all doing our jobs. Everybody gets to get better, and everybody gets to sometimes have that not great a day. Even Meryl.

Sharon Stone was obviously in full no fucks given mode but she s been struck by lightning once, and clearly doesn t want to be struck again for dragging Meryl Streep. So today, she tweeted that Meryl Streep is one of the greatest actors of all time but there are others as well:

To be clear; Meryl Streep is one of the greatest actors of all times. Just not to the exclusion of others. Sharon Stone

Hopefully, this leads to Sharon Stone and Meryl Streep joining forces for a sweeping dramatic epic about rival checkout cashiers. And sadly, Meryl would probably win an Oscar over Sharon for it.
