Adele Says There Is No Las Vegas Residency Because She Can t Find A VenueGet the Full StoryPoor Adele, so tired from promoting the shit out of her new album 30, that she was forced to do her Rolling Stone cover shoot lying in a comfortable bed. She can barely keep her eyes open! Maybe it s the wine? Who knows. But one thing is for sure, and that s that you won t hear her complaining about how tired she is from hitting the stage in Las Vegas every night because she claims there isn t a Las Vegas residency in her future. Also, Adele could be tired because she says her divorce really took it out of here, emotional-wise.
As we all know, 30 was written and recorded after Adele split from her husband of less than a year, Simon Konecki. But, it s not a divorce album! It just has divorce-adjacent themes, all of which spilled over from her personal life. Adele says it was extremely sad, which is likely no surprise to anyone who has ever gotten divorced. And no matter how much Adele swears 30 isn t the divorce album to end all divorce albums, it pretty much is, just based on proximity to where she was at the time! via HuffPo:
It made me really sad, she told the magazine. Then having so many people that I don t know know that I didn t make that work it fucking devastated me. I was embarrassed. No one made me feel embarrassed, but you feel like you didn t do a good job.
Adele said that she suffered an intense few weeks of bed-bound anxiety following the split, until the day of her 31st birthday in May 2019. I felt quite hopeful, she said. It was the first time I felt I d had a really nice evening and I was OK being in the house and going to bed on my own. I was not excited, but I was looking forward to the next day.
Embarrassed? Adele needs to go easy on herself. I think the only thing that would have been embarrassing had been if she and Simon previously starred in a series of self-help DVDs about finding your soul mate called Looking for Someone Like You! . But then again, that would be more ironic than embarrassing.
As for her rumored Las Vegas residency. In July, it was rumored that Adele was considering a residency at Resorts World. Then just last month, the rumors ramped up, when sources told Billboard that Adele was shopping around for a venue to host said residency. Well, there s no residency. As for a tour, Adele isn t exactly excited about getting out there with a bunch of strangers. via ET:
It s too unpredictable, with all the rules and stuff. I don t want anyone coming to my show scared. And I don t want to get COVID, either.
She also shoots down any Las Vegas residency rumours, insisting she hasn t signed up for anything because there s fucking nothing available.
Um, ma am? You re ADELE. You don t think Las Vegas wouldn t happily kick out a current residency artist so that Adele could sing sad songs to people willing to pay 500 a seat? Nothing available, please. That s suspicious. I m not saying it would happen, but I m also not saying that it s beyond the realm of possibility to picture Vegas Vickie kicking a neon boot through the door to Shania Twain s residency and yelling, Let s go, girl. Pack your stuff, this is Adele s show now.
For now, rabid Adele fans can satiate their thirst for that weepy divorce album by watching the trailer for her two-hour CBS special, Adele: One Night Only. It airs on Sunday and features songs performed at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles, and a sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey. If anyone can solve the mystery about this Las Vegas residency, it s Oprah. Her first question better be whether Adele is being silent or silenced about exactly where she plans to sing in Vegas.
There s no one like Adele . You re invited to a posh night including special performances and an interview with Oprah this Sunday on CBS. #Adele pic.twitter.com zKrQwAb9pW
